Les automnales

Le Refuge Abandonné, - The Abandoned Refuge - a painting inspired by the Refuge de La Pilatte in Oisans, French Alps, received an award at the exhibition Les Automnales , organised by ARTIS in Barraux , France , this autumn.

As you can see, I am pretty proud of this first prize, but I have to admit that I was fairly surprised too, because this big baby demanded a lot of work and the day of the hanging I was in doubt about the quality of my work, almost panicking and thinking of not showing up.

it was a lesson for me.

As artists, our work is about research and exploration. So we are rarely fully satisfied or not for very long.

One of the jury members told me: do the work, but don't judge the work. Since that day, every time my inner critic shows up with (clearly) bad intentions, I think about that sentence and I let go.
